Nefertem Bust — Tutankhamun Lotus Head, Museum Reproduction, Not an Original Antiquity

This polystone bust reproduces the famous "Head of Nefertem" (also known as the "Head from the Lotus Bloom"), a painted wooden sculpture found in Tutankhamun's tomb in the Valley of the Kings and held today in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo. It depicts the young pharaoh as Nefertem, the god of the lotus blossom and the rising sun, emerging from a blue lotus — for ancient Egyptians the lotus, which closes at night and reopens at dawn, was a symbol of rebirth and the sun's daily renewal.
