Beautiful Black Ancient Egyptian Goddess Bastet, Ancient Egyptian Cat

Bastet is an Egyptian cat goddess of protection, fertility, and motherhood. She was worshiped throughout Egypt by rich and poor alike, as well as other cats, who were mummified and buried in the same elaborate style as humans. The beautiful goddess Bastet is believed to be a goddess of joy and dance. She is often depicted as being a cat or as a woman with the head of a cat, wearing her sun disk. Bastet was adored by women in ancient Egypt and was often portrayed as their protector.

Bastet is also called Bast, the god of good luck and protection, and also helps women when she gives birth, ancient Egyptian goddess worshiped in the form of a lioness and later a cat. The daughter of Re, the sun god, Bastet was an ancient deity whose ferocious nature was ameliorated after the cat's domestication around 1500 BCE.
