This museum reproduction set recreates the gilded funerary masks of Yuya and Thuya, the parents of Queen Tiye and grandparents of Pharaoh Akhenaten. Yuya was an influential 18th Dynasty courtier and priest, and Thuya was his wife, a noblewoman connected to the royal court and temple establishment. Their masks were discovered together in tomb KV46 in 1905 — considered the most significant find in the Valley of the Kings before Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922. Egyptian artisans hand-finish each piece in this two-mask set to capture the gilded detail of the originals.
