This handcrafted two-statue set reproduces the celebrated seated statues of Prince Rahotep and his wife Nofret, carved in Egypt's 4th Dynasty (circa 2570 BCE) and discovered at Meidum in 1871. The painted limestone originals, famed for their strikingly lifelike inlaid eyes, are among the treasures of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. Rahotep was a high official believed to be a son of Pharaoh Sneferu; Nofret held the title "one known to the king." These reproductions are carved from blue-toned stone in the traditional seated pose.
